Several local organizations actively maintain and designate trails, and host weekly rates, including:

Big Island Mountain Bike Association (BIMBA). BIMBA is a voluntary organization whose membership is made up of riders, friends, and family who are interested in mountain biking in Hawaii. BIMBA has ongoing activities such as fun rides, races and trail maintenance as well as participation in related community activities. They provide important safety information and maps of trails.

Peoples Advocacy for Trails Hawaii (PATH) turned 19 years old in 2005. PATH promotes traffic safety education and improves conditions on roadways and trails for recreation, fitness, and alternative modes of transportation. They also provide a Biking Hawaii Guide that includes several Big Island maps.
